Self-Help for the Elderly
Ms. Chung oversees and manages Self Help for the Elderly, an organization that provides a comprehensive range of health, educational, social, and recreational services to over 40,000 seniors a year, regardless of ability or income levels. Self-Help also operates three affordable senior housing projects and runs the One Stop Career Link Access Center in Chinatown for immigrant job seekers. With a staff of over 400 and an annual budget of $24 million, Self-Help started in San Francisco’s Chinatown and now serves seniors in five Bay Area counties. Ms. Chung graduated from Lone Mountain Women’s College and the School of Social Work at San Francisco State University. She also graduated from the Gallup Leadership Institute and completed the 2007 Leadership America Program and a National Fellowship Program with the Asian Pacific American Women Leadership Institute. She currently serves as Co-Chair of San Francisco’s Complete Count Committee for Census 2020; on the Board of Directors of the Wildflowers Institute; the API Council; and the City College of San Francisco’s Parcel Tax Advisory Committee.
