Kate Gordon has 20 years of experience working in the field of dementia. She has expertise in a diverse range of dementia-specific topics, including international, federal and state policies affecting persons with dementia, early-onset dementia, caregiver interventions, acute care and direct care worker training. Kate has worked with persons with dementia and their families in both residential and clinical settings. Her previous domestic policy work includes assisting in the development of the first US National Alzheimer’s Plan and 19 state government Alzheimer’s disease plans. She provided public policy and campaign guidance to Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) to enact national government dementia plans, focusing on work with the Pan American Health Organization. She worked with a regional network of ADI member organizations and the Pan American Health Organization to secure the first World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Plan of Action on Dementia (2015) and the WHO Global Plan on Dementia (2017). She is the co-developer and adjunct instructor of dementia and brain health policy courses through the Global Brain Health Institute Fellows program (UCSF/Trinity College), UMass Boston and University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
