Veronica Shepard is a Project Manager with the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) focusing on Black/African American Health through supporting the San Francisco African American Faith Based Coalition which is comprised of over 20 congregations city-wide. She also supports the Racial Equity Initiative with the Population Health Division. Prior to this, she coordinated the Black/African American Health Initiative which encompassed the entire Health Department city wide. She began her work at SFDPH as the Breast Cancer Program Manager working at the Southeast Health Center to reduce the breast cancer mortality rates of African American women across the city. In this role, Veronica successfully built relationships within and beyond the community that increased screening rates of African American women as well as assisted them with other resources needed. She is an advocate for the health and wellness of all underserved populations; and she knows first-hand that building respectful relationships is foundational to addressing the needs of people who are struggling to survive each day. She received her Bachelor of Arts, in Sociology from San Francisco State University and has traveled to over twenty-five countries thus far.
